Roy D. Barker, Jr. Principal

After 15 years in the restaurant industry, Roy had an opportunity in Dallas, TX to begin learning the flooring industry in 1997. After working with a company that contracted out to The Home Depot as an estimator, the company went defunct as Home Depot went to an internal estimating system. In 1998 Roy began working in the Flooring division of Home Depot after they hired him on as an estimator/trainer to work in their stores.

Commercial flooring in southwest FloridaIn 1999, The Home Depot again tried the outside estimating with the American Floor Covering Institute, run by Jim Walker, who was the leading flooring specialist in the country. After extensive tutelage Roy became the lead Estimator for AFCI, with the lowest recall rate in the company. In 2000, The Home Depot again went back to an internal system of estimating. AFCI went in a different direction and Roy went on to learn the commercial side of the flooring business. In 2000, Roy went to work for Quality Floors where he became the #3 sales consultant in the company. During this time, Roy developed the ceramic tile division of Quality floors, and then went on to develop the hardwood flooring section. September 11, 2001 caused markets to fall and other opportunities to open.

Cape Coral and Fort Myers Commercial FlooringAfter moving to Cape Coral Florida, Roy quickly immersed himself in the market there. Commercial flooring was not real active, so Roy took a job with Robb and Stucky in 2002, managing their floor covering division for the Lee county area. Roy worked with designers and builders to develop the most successful flooring dept to date for that area.  In 2003 I was approached by Lowe’s, and asked to begin an estimating company that would service the S.W. Florida side of the Corporation. So began Florida Estimators. Florida Estimators used the latest technological advances for the flooring industry. Computerized graphics, laser measures, and the most up to date technology that was available. Shortly after Florida Estimators began, we were offered the west coast of Florida. During negotiations, Lowe’s changed company policy and demanded that the installers did their own measuring and estimating. We continued on into 2005, but; the market for outside estimators in this area is too slight to justify the continuation of the business.

Also during 2003 Roy was approached by Floors, Inc, a division of Home Depot to take over and run their internal estimating division, which he took on. For two years, Roy developed the estimating department for Floors, Inc and created a solid profitable department, as well as did all of the local teaching and training for all of the flooring products for all of the departments, some of which has been implemented company-wide. Home Depot again consolidated departments and again went to a centralized estimating division which would have required Roy to move. Floors, now CTI, offered Roy a project manager position, which was declined for personal reasons.

In 2006, Roy and His wife began the concept of Florida Floors, LLC. The knowledge that Roy brings to the table is truly second to none in the industry. To be successful in the commercial flooring aspect of the business takes a certain kind of knowledge base, one that Roy has. The difference between commercial and residential is like driving an automatic vs. a stick. Just because you can drive and automatic, (residential) does not mean you can drive a stick (commercial); but, if you can drive a stick, you can drive an automatic. Two different worlds and Roy has the ability to drive both, extremely successfully.


Cynthia PaulCynthia Paul: Office Manager

Cynthia Paul began in the construction industry with her Grandfather who was a prominent developer in the Midwest.  At the age of 9, Cynthia was riding a golf cart with her Grandfather who was beginning to groom her in the construction industry.  Since that time, Cynthia has been involved with the construction industry in many ways, but; primarily with the day to day functions of the office.  Extremely organized and proficient, Cynthia brings to the company a level of expertise that is second to none with regards to the day-to-day internal operations of a company.  Cynthia is a true professional with the experience and dedication to bind the inner and outer workings of Florida Floors, L.L.C. together.  As a member of Florida Floors, L.L.C., Cynthia is as dedicated to the growth and expansion of our company as anyone and is a true asset to our company.



Stefania Pearce: Lead East Coast Consultant

Stefania Pearce joined the Florida Floors family in July of 2007.  A granddaughter of a prominent developer in the Midwest and the sister of Cynthia Paul, Stefania brings to Florida Floors a level of commitment to the growth of Florida Floors, LLC on the east coast of Florida as our Lead East Coast Consultant.  Stefania has a solid working knowledge of the construction industry and has specialized in the flooring trades for many years.  With Stefania as the face of our company on the East Coast, we are confident in our representation as well as the continued growth of Florida Floors as we grow and expand in other regions of Florida.  We welcome Stefania to the family and look forward to her long and prosperous growth with the company.



Jason Paul: Sales Associate

Jason joined Florida Floors, L.L.C. in October of 2007.  Jason’s background is in the construction industry and in computer technology.  Jason has served many years at the feet of his father’s construction company and has a broad working knowledge of the construction industry as a whole.  Jason’s background in construction allows him to see the whole picture as well as anyone in the business and his computer knowledge allows Florida Floors to continue growing in the technological age of the 21st century.



Marian Stone: Sales Associate

Marian joined Florida Floors, L.L.C. in November of 2007.  Marian’s background in commercial flooring is long and storied.  Marian has served as a district manager for flooring divisions for companies such as Kane’s Furniture; American Rug and Linoleum Company and has served in various capacities for other flooring companies in the Orlando, Fl region.  After a few years out of the area, Marian has returned to SW Florida with years of knowledge and experience under her belt with regards to the flooring industry, and specifically the Commercial Flooring Industry.  Marian has a knack for design and a talent for sales that is surpassed by none and we hope you have the opportunity to experience it firsthand.
